Dr Han How Chuan is a Senior Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology with a special interest in Urogynaecology. Prior to starting his private practice, he served in KK Women's and Children's Hospital for 32 years, where he was awarded multiple accolades such as the PS21 Star Service Award, Singhealth Quality Service (Star) and the 30 years long service award in recognition of his outstanding clinical work with Singhealth. He was instrumental in the setting up of the KKH Urogynaecology Centre, the first one-stop centre in Asia, and subsequently served as the Head of the Department of Urogynaecology for 18 Years. He was trained in 1997 under Professor Stuart Stanton (London) in Urogynaecology and pelvic floor reconstruction and specializes in female urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse surgeries.

 

Dr Han's research interests lie in pelvic floor reconstructive surgery, female stress urinary incontinence surgery and medical treatment for overactive bladder. He has conducted numerous clinical studies on incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse, and has published in multiple medical journals and reviews on these topics. He has presented numerous posters and oral presentations internationally, and is also a renowned and regular speaker at international Urogynaecology conferences. Through the years, he has authored and co-authored books in the same discipline.

 

With a passion for teaching and training the next generation of doctors and specialists, Dr Han was previously appointed as an Adjunct Associate Professor at the 3 medical schools in Singapore: Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine and a Clinical Physician Faculty Member for the SingHealth Obstetrics & Gynaecology Residency Program.

Outside of his heavy work commitments, Dr Han enjoys spending valuable time with his family and is a very proud father of 7 children!
